The Department of Defense’s (the Department or DoD) enduring
mission is to provide the military forces to deter war and ensure the
Nation’s security. The Department will continue to provide combatcredible military forces that are capable of defending against
aggression that undermines the security of both the United States
(U.S.) and its Allies.
