CURRENT STATUS: More than a third of the Emigrant Fire perimeter has not reached primary control lines. A large
portion of the fire perimeter is held by roads, creeks and other natural features. To this point, operations have
focused on building primary control lines and establishing secondary control lines in priority areas, mitigating
snags and mop up along primary control lines and checking lines. Snag removal on the perimeter of the fire is
essential for the safety of firefighters engaged in mop up operations around the perimeter of the fire. Estimates of
containment will not increase until assessments of control lines confirm that fire will not escape primary control
lines.
Spot fires across control lines on the south and east of the fire over the past several days have been lined and are
in check. These spot fires may have been the result of burning lichens high in the canopy lofting over lines and
landing in treetops beyond control lines. Yesterday afternoon a lightning strike ignited a fire outside of the
primary control line and resources responded quickly, catching it at less than an acre.
Contingency groups continue to protect structures in Timpanogas Campground and the hydroelectric flumes
south of Forest Service Road 2154.
Cooler conditions with higher humidity make fine fuels less available to burn although larger fuels remain dry.
Low to moderate fire behavior was observed yesterday and is anticipated in the days ahead.
WEATHER: A cooler, wetter period is expected to begin Monday with the possibility of over an inch of rain
between Monday morning and Tuesday morning.

SMOKE: Smoke remains concentrated south and west of the fire. A gradual improvement in air quality is expected
over the next few days as emissions from the Emigrant Fire decrease. In low lying areas, fog may mix with smoke
and reduce visibility. The Lane Regional Air Protection Agency has extended their air quality advisory through
Sunday evening. Smoke and air quality information is available at https://www.oregonsmoke.org/ and
