Fire start date: 9/3/25 Loca.on: 11 miles northeast of Agness Cause: Lightning
Acreage: 19,549 acres
Percent Contained: 10% Full Suppression Fire
Personnel: 916
Aircraft: 15 helicopters, 2 UAS
Crews: 18
CURRENT STATUS: The fire grew approximately 36 acres in the past 24 hours. Burning has been limited to
isolated concentra3ons of heavy fuels and stump holes. With warmer and dryer weather, light fuels on the surface
in areas exposed to the sun are beginning to support fire spread. Firefighters are taking advantage of moderated fire
behavior to thoroughly mop up inside constructed fire line to strengthen the perimeter. Clear skies with decreased
fog and cloud cover has improved visibility and made aerial surveillance more effec3ve as firefighters search for
remaining areas of heat. Unmanned Aerial PlaEorms (drones) are being u3lized for infrared detec3on to discover
any hidden heat signatures that might challenge control lines.
Yesterday, fire fighters used helicopters to drop almost 112,000 gallons of water on hot spots at the fire’s edge in
the Blossom Creek, Stair Creek and Shasta Costa Creek drainages. Crews con3nued direct fire line construc3on and
mopping up around Wild Rivers, Brushy Bar, Clay Hill and other lodges. Boaters and recreators are encouraged to
use extra cau3on on the river between Foster Bar and Cougar Lane to allow full access for helicopter opera3ons.
WEATHER: Reduced rela3ve humidi3es and higher temperatures will contribute to drier fuels and increase the
poten3al for surface fire spread. Warmer and drier weather is expected to con3nue un3l mid-week, with weSer
condi3ons to follow. There is an increasing probability of rain beginning Wednesday which will further reduce the
likelihood of significant fire ac3vity.
EVACUATIONS: A Level 2 (BE SET!) evacua3on order is in place from Tacoma Rapids (River Mile 29) to the Oak Flat
Area, including Agness; and southwest from Spud Road and the Rogue River, bordered on the northwest by Agness
Road (Forest System Road [FSR] 33) and ending at Forest System Road 3318. An interac3ve evacua3on map can be
found at hSps://bit.ly/MoonComplexEvacs.
SMOKE: Air quality informa3on is available at hSps://www.oregonsmoke.org/ and hSps://www.airnow.gov.
CLOSURES: Bear Camp Road (FSR 23), Eden Valley Road (FSR 3348), Burnt Ridge Road (FSR 2308), and Agness
Road (FSR 33) from Agness to Eden Valley Road are closed. County Road 375 to Foster Bar is open. An emergency
area, road and trail closure is in place on the Rogue River-Siskiyou Na3onal Forest for the fire. Please visit
hSps://www.fs.usda.gov/r06/rogue-siskiyou/alerts for closure informa3on and maps.
River permits for the Wild Sec3on are being issued. Burned areas along the river may be extremely hazardous with
a high poten3al for falling green trees that have been damaged by fire and rockslides into the river. Watch for
helicopters dipping out of the river and move away from these opera3ons if you are on the water. Due to fire
impacts and the complexity of moving personnel and gear to the fire area, the Forest Service has suspended
motorboat traffic upstream of Foster Bar boat ramp. Lodge owners and private cabin owners may travel upstream
for ingress and egress purposes to their private property/businesses.
