Complex Incident Management Team (CIMT) Northwest 13 would like to thank the communities of Illahe, Agness, and Gold Beach for their support. CIMT Northwest 7 will assume management of the Moon Complex at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
CURRENT STATUS: Lines around a spot fire to the northwest of Illahe have been mopped up to 30 feet and firefighters will continue working to widen them today. Along Panther Ridge, crews are working to connect lines along Forest System Road 060 in preparation for going direct.
Ground resources are chipping along Forest System Road 2308 and continuing to assess FSR 23/Bear Camp Road. Rollout, fire-weakened trees and other debris are creating significant hazards to firefighters and equipment in the area between East Creek and Shasta Costa Creek.
Since Sept. 20, firefighters assigned to the Moon Complex have created 22.6 miles of combined hand and dozer line, dug 93.5 miles of handline, cut 17 miles of dozer line, and prepped 37.8 miles of roads. Aviation resources flew 279 hours, transporting 137 passengers, delivering 28,000 pounds of cargo, and dropping 1,384,000 gallons of water on the fire. That is enough water to supply 163 households for a month.
WEATHER: Light showers are expected to resume over the fire area today, with high temperatures in the 60s and southwest winds with gusts up to 20 miles per hour.
EVACUATIONS: All Level 3 (GO NOW!) evacuation orders have been lifted. A Level 2 (SET!) evacuation order is in place from Tacoma Rapids (River Mile 29) to the Oak Flat Area, including Agness; and southwest from Spud Road and the Rogue River, bordered on the northwest by Forest System Road 33 (Agness Road) and ending at Forest System Road 3318. An interactive evacuation map can be found at https://bit.ly/MoonComplexEvacs.
SMOKE: Smoke and air quality information is available at https://www.oregonsmoke.org/ and
https://www.airnow.gov.
CLOSURES: Bear Camp Road, Eden Valley Road, Forest System Road 2308, and Forest System Road 33 from Agness to FSR 3348 are closed.
