Fire start date: 9/3/25
Location: 11 miles northeast of Agness
Cause: Lightning
Acreage: 19,520 acres
Percent Contained: 34% Full Suppression
Fire Personnel: 473
Aircraft: 4 helicopters, 2 UAS
Crews: 7
CURRENT STATUS: As of 6:00 PM yesterday, Nevada Type 3 Incident Management Team #4 and Incident Commander
Daniel Gallagher have assumed command of the Moon Complex. Containment is now 34%. Firefighters are actively
engaged in suppression repair along several roads and fire lines. These efforts are critical to preventing sediment
from impacting the tributaries of the Rogue River to preserve water quality and habitat. As containment increases,
crews are removing and backhauling fire suppression equipment from several areas of the fire.
Along Bear Camp Road, many large-diameter trees have been severely weakened by the fire, posing a significant risk
of falling without warning. Crews are actively assessing and removing any hazardous trees that may impact road
access and public safety. Meanwhile, crews continue to make steady progress on suppression repair work around
Paradise Lodge at the north end of the fire.
WEATHER: Warmer and drier days with off shore winds will continue this week but are not expected to be enough to
dry out fuels in the fire area or increase fire activity noticeably.
EVACUATIONS: FIRE EVACUATION LEVEL DECREASED: Evacuation levels have been decreased from Level 2 to Level 1
for Agness and the surrounding area. The area along the 33 road from Spud Road to the 3318, previously in Level 2,
was removed due to no fire danger in that area. The Level 1 area of Marial and Rogue River Ranch was removed, due
to no fire danger at this time in that area. For current evacuation levels, visit: https://bit.ly/MoonComplexEvacs
CLOSURES: The Emergency Area and Road Closure on the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest was revised, reducing
the area closure and opening up several key travel routes to the public, including Agness Road (FSR 33) between
Agness and Powers, OR, and Burnt Ridge Road (FSR 2308) between Merlin and Agness, OR, and Eden Valley Road
(FSR 3348). Bear Camp Road remains closed. This closure is being reassessed for safe reopening on a regular basis as
work to mitigate fire-related hazards is completed. The Rogue River Trail remains closed from Marial to Foster Bar.
Please visit https://www.fs.usda.gov/r06/rogue-siskiyou/alerts for closure information and maps.
